We have been spending this month sharing a birth mother perspective from our very own CAC Adoption Advocate Lori Dortch. She has spent the last 26 years in an open adoption with her son and his adoptive parents. She provides wise, honest advice and encouragement for all parties of the adoption triad. Today she shares a post on the importance of taking time away to rest, recharge and sit with Jesus. The world around us is speaking to us often through various mediums . Lori encourages us to turn down the noise and feast on what the Lord has to say to our heart.
It’s not vengeful, aimed or retaliatory.
It’s not bitterness about the current climate of life.
It’s not the desire to gain attention or to isolate or hide from anyone.
It IS about taking the advice you so often give to others.
It’s about the conditions of the heart.
How easy is it to offer advice to a friend or family member? You see exactly what they need and you speak it—in love—through encouragement or life advice, right? Sometimes it’s wise words from your soul, a Word from God, a prayer of hope, a complement on a job well done, just showing up, or the simple act of listening.
Take your advice! It is always recommend to schedule time away to sit, be still with Jesus and listen for His response. Take time away to rest, reconnect, let the mundane details dissipate and for the fear response to float away. Make time to listen to your truest heart’s desire. Create time to connect with family—after all, they are the ones who really deserve the quality version of you.
So let’s grow!
Silence the ballads
No lyrical escape.
Silence the shows
No narrative to numb.
Silence the texts
Silence the socials
No need to see.
Silence the feed
Silence the news
No fear of the future
You’ll begin to see new life and feel the peace in your soul—without worry about the fires that rage within your phone. And you’ll be more at ease in marriage, more connected with God and more balanced in the priorities of raising family.Your life job is customized—just like you—as is your valuable, quality time.
Are you not weary of carrying around these heavy weights of expectation, anticipation, worry and comparison? Do not worry about what others will think. If your spiritual car is stalled, it’s time for some custom-created infusions. God’s Food & Fuel provides more than enough. You NEED to pull over.
““Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 NIV
“Now if this promise of “rest” was fulfilled when Joshua brought the people into the land, God wouldn’t have spoken later of another “rest” yet to come. So we conclude that there is still a full and complete “rest” waiting for believers to experience. As we enter into God’s faith-rest life we cease from our own works, just as God celebrates his finished works and rests in them. So then we must give our all and be eager to experience this faith-rest life, so that no one falls short by following the same pattern of doubt and unbelief.” Hebrews 4:8-11 TPT
