Today, CAC Adoption Advocate and Birth Mother, Lori, shares a beautiful poem entitled, “Peace.” The adoption process can bring many unknowns and uncertainties. At times the journey can feel like an emotional rollercoaster. We pray these words soothe over your heart today and help you enter into a space of peace and rest.
by Lori Dortch
She is not born of this world
Her characters uncommon
Her approach, unexpected
And too often, leaving far too soon.
In our busy lives, peace is hard to find
She seems endangered, nearly extinct
She is elusive, like a cool breeze in August
She runs far away when we want her most
You know, You have sought her: chased her
Begged for her soothing touch
The way she calms with a simple word or glance
Her placating effect on a room when she enters
But peace is something we cannot
Set out to find on our own
Rather, she finds us when we are willing to joyously
Accept the hope contained in God’s love
Through God, she emerges and stills our waters
Her voice gives us breath
Her touch provides tranquility
Her mere presence delivers serenity
She is waiting to get into your life
To slow things down and lift you up
To silence the doubt, crush the fear and destroy the lies
To remind you that He loves you and cares.
You needn’t be weary and burdened.
Peace is a gift from the Lord.
He promises peace to His people.
Allow God’s wholeness to come and settle you down.
Experience the wonder of what He can do
When you allow worry to be displaced by His peace.
