God, You have told us in Your Word that your kingdom is beautifully diverse. We thank you that heaven is filled with color! Thank you for sending Jesus for every tribe and language and people and nation. During this Black History Month and every month, we ask You to increase in our hearts a love for those who look different than we do. Help us to look at people through the lens that you do-as fearfully and wonderfully made in Your image.
We pray for adoptive parents raising precious children of color; give them Your wisdom to navigate the complexities of life as a multi-racial family. Increase their humility and willingness to listen and learn. Form, deepen, and strengthen the friendships they have with black brothers and sisters. Help these parents lean not on their own understanding but on You. Help them compassionately, patiently, and faithfully raise their child(ren) as beloved image-bearers of God. Lord, we pray for adoptees impacted by adoption across racial lines. Jesus, you walked this earth and you know what it’s like to be seen as “different.” You are able to bring comfort and hope to those who feel the sting of not looking like their family. Fill the hearts of those who have been adopted transracially with an awareness of their beauty and worth in Your sight. Give them a deep peace in their souls that comes from You alone. Help them see themselves as You do-fearfully and wonderfully made in Your image. We thank you, Lord, for the day coming when we will worship you around Your throne in heaven with those You have brought to Yourself- adoptees and birth families and adoptive parents from every tribe and language and people and nation!
