Adoption stories are among some of God’s greatest creations in my opinion. It never ceases to amaze me as I watch his plans blow away the expectations of families. When Dave and Beth came to Christian Adoption Consultants, they felt God leading them to adoption.Little did they realize, adoption is such an arduous journey filled with a lot of what if s and things that have you clinging to our great God. I will never forget Beth’s phone call to me one day.She had just learned of an expectant mama considering adoption who was due with a little girl. Beth and Dave were growing weary in the process to learn when’their dreams of becoming parents would come true. Beth told me she was struggling because they had been through so much and her??heart just can’t take it anymore. I could feel the hope they had diminishing. And it was a surprise to us but not to God, it was that same special expectant mother who chose them to parent a beautiful little girl.God’s timing, it’s never late and always perfect. I will let Beth share a little more about their story and the profound love they have for their daughter and her birth mama.
? We were excited about the prospect of adoption, we did some research and found a local agency. However, the wait time for them was two years and already they weren’t quick to respond to my questions. I felt uneasy about signing with them and when sharing that with a friend, she recommended Christian Adoption Consultants. I didn’t even know what consultants were. My husband suggested we talk to a family friend who had also adopted, Amber Limerick.Come to find out, she had also used Christian Adoption Consultants (CAC), and was now a consultant for them. We couldn’t believe how everything was unfolding. We decided to use CAC and Amber. They helped us through every step of the way. Through the uncertainty of a home study. Through looking at expectant mothers? profiles and deciding whether to present to them or not. Through the waiting, through matching with an expectant mama, through meeting our awesome birthmom, and eventually our baby girl. There were so many times I called Amber crying or with a million questions and she always responded quickly. Her answers were so helpful and made us feel at ease about the process.?
Adoption is a difficult journey and no one can truly prepare you until you are in it. At first, my husband and I weren’t sure we wanted to pay the extra fees to use CAC. However, after we were in the thick of it, we often turned to each other and said it was the best money we had spent and we couldn’t imagine doing this alone, in the adoption world, which we were totally unfamiliar with.
I used to pore over the Christian Adoption Consultant’s blogs and dream about the day we would have our own baby and our story would be on the blog. It seemed surreal to us when it actually happened. The day we got in the car to take babyK? home, I bawled. It is such a life changing event and the emotions are so intense. I felt keenly aware of the loss this was for our birth mama and that broke my heart that she was in pain. But at the same time, we were so joyful to have the gift of being parents to this special girl. It is hard to describe to someone what it is like to feel both of those emotions?simultaneously.?
Adoption is hard, sad, joyful, and amazing. It is all of those things at the very same moment. There is really no way to describe the feeling of profound loss and profound joy at the same time. I think that is really the heart of adoption.
We have an amazing, open relationship with our birth mama. We love her so much and she gave us our daughter,K?, who is the joy and light of our lives. We are so thankful to Amber and CAC for helping us and we feel truly blessed.
Well Dave and Beth, your dreams have come true. Today it’s your story and daughter on the blogs you once poured over as you anticipated the arrival of your baby. Introducing sweet BabyK?.Praise be to God!
